Save a Ton ads recognized for excellenceROANOKE, Va. (April 25, 2012) – The Save a Ton campaign has won numerous awards for excellence in advertising.
The Virginia Press Association named Save a Ton’s lampshade ad as the best agency-created newspaper ad of 2011. It depicts a dress overlying a lampshade with the line “Outfit your home with CFLs. Outfit yourself with the savings.”
The ad was designed by The Becher Agency (tba), a Roanoke advertising and public relations agency
Save a Ton also won two gold Western Virginia ADDY awards from the American Advertising Federation of Roanoke for both newspaper campaign and mixed media.
“We’re delighted that experts in the field of advertising and graphic design have recognized Save a Ton as a highly visual, impactful campaign to increase awareness of how easy it is to save a ton of money on energy costs,” said Anne Marie Green, director of general services for Roanoke County.
Save a Ton is a multi-media campaign that encourages people to visit www.saveaton.org to learn about energy savings and share their ideas and results on social media.
The website offers tips, links and resources in five categories – lighting, vehicle efficiency, energy conservation, weatherization and water conservation and now includes an energy-reduction calculator to help residents in the Roanoke and New River valleys track their savings.
The Save a Ton campaign is supported by partners Clean Valley Council, Roanoke Valley Cool Cities Coalition, Community Alliance for Energy Efficiency, Ride Solutions, RC CLEAR, Roanoke County, Roanoke Valley-Alleghany Regional Commission, City of Roanoke, City of Salem and Town of Blacksburg.
